Discuss the global trend of mobile smartphone use and how this is having an impact on how technology users are accessing the internet.

When it comes to browsing the internet many people are transferring to mobile rather than PCs. As the use of Smartphones has risen many people have migrated from PCs to mobile and due to that it is expected that 80% of all online traffic will be from mobile devices.

Instead of users visiting websites for their their day-to-day activities, they are using apps made specifically for these activities. As this is happening not many people have a need for a PC

Since 2017, 20% of all app usage has come from social media.

Not just PCs are being migrated from. The use of MP3/4 players have decreased significantly since the release of the Smartphone as many users already have music capabilities on their phones.

Using UKIE website, provide an outline of how the mobile games industry is performing within the global market.

As of June 2018, there are 2,261 with more than 5000 employees. That's the highest in the EU. AS well as having the highest employment rate in the UK, it has the largest Mobile Games market in the European Union. With the highest revenue coming from in-app purchases in free apps.

Nationally, 47% of UK smartphone owners use apps to play games. That's more than banking, streaming and shopping.

How does the mobile games market compare to the rest of the gaming world? It would be a good idea to provide statistics when answering this question.

In the UK 44% of players play on mobile, that's 21.2 million players. Opposed to 27.4 million players that play games on consoles or PC.

Out of the 5 top selling games in the UK, only 1 was a mobile game compared to the rest which are console/PC games. This is because the majority of mobile games are free-to-play and use a MTX revenue system. 76% of revenue earned from mobile apps were from MTX or advertising in their games.

What kind of direction do you think mobile devices are heading towards? How do you see technology in 10 years from now?

10 years from now I see mobile phones becoming portable games consoles. Similar to the Nintendo Switch and The PS Vita. The designs will be far more compact and screens will be suitable sizes. AS usual there will be multiple different models such as ones with game pads installed.

Other than that I don't see much change than better hardware and longer battery lives. The progress of mobile phones have already slowed down and companies new models are very similar to the last.
